Introduction
Your publishing team has been hired by a famous author to
promote and market one of his famous books in time for the author's book
signing at a popular bookstore in New York City. The author is looking for
a totally new look for this popular children's book and it's
re-introduction to the public.
The Task
Your
team's task is to create and redesign the new book jacket in time for the
author's guest appearance at his book signing. The book jacket must have
an appealing, creative, new illustration for the front cover, a summary of
the book for the front flap and information about the author for the back
flap. Your team will use software such as Microsoft Word, Kid Pix Deluxe,
Print Shop and any other software that is available in your classroom. The
graphic designer may also use other art mediums to create the illustration
for the cover.
The Process
|
ONE |
First, you will be assigned to a publishing team of
three students. You must all agree on a book to read from the book
list your teacher provides. (See
book and author resource list.)
You must complete the reading in
the required amount of time your teacher gives you. It is
important to keep to the schedule. (Three weeks to read the book
and one week to write the summaries and create the cover is
appropriate.)Checklist

the graphic designer with constructive tips and
suggestions.
