Greetings! I am Mrs. Taplin. I have been a member of the New Castle Middle School faculty since 1994, and teach Health and Physical Education. I am also the Athletic Director, supervising all athletics contested here at New Castle. In the past, I coached girl's basketball and field hockey here at New Castle, and also field hockey and girl's lacrosse at The Independence School.

I represent The Colonial School District on the State of Delaware Physical Education Standards Writing Commission. I was selected as Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year for the State of Delaware in 2001 and in 2005. This past year, I was honored as New Castle Middle School Building Teacher of the Year.

I currently serve on the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association's Official's Committee (D.I.A.A.) as the Middle School Representative and The Delaware Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (D.A.H.P.E.R.D.) as the Vice President for Sport.
