Behavior Policy
The following behavior policy was agreed
on by the 8th grade team (2005-2006):
(The policy is posted in all of the 8th grade classrooms.)
Behavior Policy
1st Infraction: Verbal Warning
Verbal Warning, Verbal / Physical Cues, Reminders to stay on-task, move seat
2nd Infraction: Student- Teacher Conference
Ask the student to stay & speak with teacher for a few minutes after class.
Discuss behavior in-class, appropriate school behavior, and review consequences
for repeating offensive behaviors.
3rd Infraction: Time-Out and Phone Call
When the class is continually being disrupted by a student who has been asked
repeatedly to stop and the teacher thinks it would be more beneficial for
the rest of the class if that student were to leave, that disruptive student
will be sent to the Time-Out room. When a student is sent to Time-Out, the
parent will be contacted by phone, email, etc.
4th Infraction/ Serious Infraction: Referral
For repeated disruptions, after other options are exhausted, or for any serious
actions (i.e. but not limited to fighting, verbal/ physical abuse, threatening,
illegal activity), a student will receive a written administrative referral.
The referral will document their inappropriate behavior.
In addition, the following rules are posted in my room:
“So that you can learn, so that we can learn, so that I can teach- I
have a set of rules to ensure a safe and orderly classroom:
1. Keep hands, feet, and comments to yourself
2. Be on time & Be prepared
3. Raise your hand to speak
4. Follow directions
Please follow these rules consistently. Thank You, Ms. V”
