Mission:

The Mission of the Twilight School is to improve student achievement through extended day programs that provide a variety of learning opportunities. These enrichment and support programs encourage students in learning experiences that foster academic success and a passion for lifelong learning.

Goals:

The Twilight Program is designed to assist students with:

  • Earning credits toward a HS diploma
  • Increasing academic achievement through individual and group tutoring
  • Improving DSTP scores in all content areas
  • Broadening their educational experiences through academic enrichment and vocational learning opportunities

Overview of Programs:

Credit Recovery is designed to give students an opportunity to meet HS graduation requirements by earning credits for that purpose. Students attend class in one or two sessions (i.e., 2:20 pm - 3:40 pm and/or 3:45 pm - 5:10 pm), Mondays - Thursdays. Transportation will be provided or students who are eligible for a valid parking permit may park on the campus.

Academic Support is designed to provide academic and social support to our target populations under our school action plan. Students attend support sessions 2:20 pm - 3:50 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Transportation will be available on the 4:00 pm buses.

Expanded Instruction is designed to provide additional support to 10th - 12th graders in Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Students attend sessions from 2:20 pm - 3:50 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Transportation will be available on the 4:00 pm buses.

Lifelong Learning Academy is designed to offer student enrichment and advanced learning opportunities to include SAT preparatory classes, and college and career planning focused on job, college admissions/financial aid/scholarship application assistance, and online AP courses (full implementation anticipated for the 2008-09 school year).

Eligibility & Application Process:

A student may be eligible to participate in the Twilight programs based on an evaluation of his/her transcript by a member of the Guidance and Counseling Department and/or by a referral be a teacher, administrator, or parent/guardian. A student may refer herself/himself and should contact his or her counselor for additional information and paperwork if interested in one or more of the programs.
