Students can sign up to take a Colonial Bus down to the game on Sat. with Mrs. Perialas (323-2821, Room E201). Bus fare is $2 the tickets are $6.

Geography Awareness Week (Nov. 17 - 21)
Canned Food Drive
The Student Council's Annual Canned Food Drive is underway and will end on Friday, December 12. We are encouraging all students and staff to bring in non-perishable food items to help needy families during the holiday seasons. We will collect the cans by 1st period and the winning 1st period will be awarded a trophy.

Toys-for-Tots
Junior ROTC in association with Jobs for Delaware Graduates are collecting new unwrapped toys to support The Marine Corps Reserve's Toys-for-Tots program. If anyone would like to participate in this with us, there will be a collection box in rooms C-109 and S-201. The collection ends December 19.

Giant Bonus Bucks
Starting October 3, 2008 through April 2, 2009, William Penn High School will have the opportunity to earn cash through Giant A+ BonusBucks Program. To participate, complete the form and drop off the next time you go shopping at Giant.
Volleyball Team Raises over $200 for CaringBridge
The WPHS Ladies Volleyball Team raised over $200 and donated that money to CaringBridge. The donation was made in honor of Sydney Lysinger, a volleyball player at St. Mark's, that is currently fighting cancer.

Congratulations WP Marching Colonials!
Congratulations to the WP Marching Colonials on their 4th place finish a the Tournament of Bands Chapter IX Championships!. The band scored an 87.15 and won "Most Improved Band" award for the evening. This score was also high enough to qualify the Colonials. for the Atlantic Coast Championships where the best bands from all 13 Chapters compete for top honors.
WP Students Discuss the Importance of Education

Kim Davis (Art) receives state recognition!!!
Congratulations to Kim Davis for earning the Art Educators of Delaware's Howard Pyle Art Educator Award. Earning this prestigious award is a tribute to Ms. Davis' commitment to art education on behalf of students and the Colonial community.
WP Students Give Back to the Community
On Sunday, September 28th, four WPHS students participated in AIDS Walk Delaware. This was the first year Colonials for A Cure Walked in this community based event. The team raised over $100 and increased awareness at WPHS. Thanks to captains Lenny Ruebeck ('08) and Liz Bailey ('08) for getting WP involved in such a great cause.

In the spring of 2008, several Colonials represented our school well at the National Business Professionals of America (BPA) Conference in Reno, NV. WP Marching Colonials Are Regional Champs
The WP Marching Band, directed by Mr. Brian Endlein , was named 2007 American Conference A Champions for the Cavalcade of Bands . Additionally, the Marching Band also won awards in the areas of "Best Percussion" and "Best Music."
Ryan Dean ('08) receives National Recognition
Ryan Dean ('08) was named to the US Army All-American Band . Ryan is one of only 91 American students given this recognition. He is the ONLY student from Delaware to be given such an honor. The WP family is very proud to have Ryan serve as an ambassador for our school. < Ryan's All-American Profile >
