Mathematics Courses Offered

This three-year sequence offers the same mathematical topics as a traditional Algebra I/Geometry/ Algebra II sequence. The difference lies in the organization of the content. Topics from Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II are interwoven at each level throughout each of the three years. This sequence helps students understand the practical application of math and continues the integrated approach used at both the elementary and middle-school level.

Integrated Mathematics is designed to prepare students for college and meet the demands of the 21st century workplace by enabling them to solve mathematical problems, think critically and communicate ideas effectively. Technology, including the graphing calculator, plays an integral role in these courses.

Required Courses

Integrated Algebra I
Available to students in grade 9 1 Credit
This first year course is designed to meet the State Standards and prepares students for college-level mathematics. Statistics, linear and exponential models, algebra, probability, matrices and geometry topics are presented in a problem-solving, investigative context with extensive use of technology. The emphasis is on reasoning, connections, and the effective communication of mathematical ideas.

Integrated Mathematics II
Available to students in grades 9, 10 1 Credit
This second-year course is designed to meet the State Standards. Topics covered are: statistics, algebra, probability and quadratic functions. Exponential models are explored and expanded. Additionally, students apply matrices and discrete math to solve contextually-based, realistic problems. Instruction and assessment practices are designed to promote mathematical thinking. The emphasis is on reasoning, connections and the effective communication of mathematical ideas. Technology plays an integral role throughout the curriculum.
Prerequisite: Integrated Algebra I

Integrated Mathematics III
Available to students in grades 10, 11 1 Credit
This is the most advanced course in our integrated series. Topics include geometry, trigonometry and expanded topics in algebra and probability. Students have the opportunity to develop symbol sense and deepen their mathematical reasoning by connecting their concepts to real-world problems.

Algebra II
Available to students in grades 10, 11, 12 1 Credit
This course includes linear and quadratic equations, systems of equations, fractional expressions and equations, linear, quadratic exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions, complex numbers, inequalities, transformations, exponents, powers and roots.
Prerequisite: Geometry, Integrated Math III, or Integrated Math II with teacher recommendation.

Elective Courses

Pre-Calculus (Honors)
Available to students in grade 11 1 Credit
This course includes the extensive study of polynomial functions, of trigonometry, exponentials, logarithms, sequences and series, probability, and conic sections.
Prerequisite: Honors Algebra II or teacher recommendation

Calculus (Advanced Placement)
Available to students in grade 12 1 Credit
This course includes functions and limits, differentiation and applications, integration and applications, logarithmic and exponential functions, methods of integration and analytic geometry. The AP course prepares students for the Advanced Placement Examination in mathematics. Students are expected to take the exam.
Prerequisites: Honors Pre-Calculus for AP Calculus or advanced math for Calculus

Advanced Mathematics
Available to students in grade 12 1 Credit
This course includes probability and counting principles, elementary and inverse functions and their graphs, trigonometry, logarithms, exponentials, and sequences and series.
Prerequisite: Algebra II or teacher recommendation

AP Statistics
Available to students in grades 11, 12 1 Credit
This course includes statistical concepts, principles, and techniques. Students will learn to display and interpret data and describe various distributions using central tendencies, variance, standard deviations, confidence intervals, test of significance, and statistical studies.
Prerequisite: Algebra II or Geometry
