Project Options Section 1 - Introduction to Health Project Choices: All those choosing projects must do #3, and one other project 1. Create a visual for “Diseases with Controllable Risk Factors” and how you can reduce those risk factors. 2. Create a visual indicating ways to protect yourself from 3 causes of death that are affected by health risk behaviors. 3. To be healthy one must address all six components of health. Create a visual that that will contain all six components of health and information about positive aspects of each of those components. List things or activities in your life that positively affect thecorresponding component of their health, and strategies to improve the quality of thosecomponents. 4. Environment and Your Health: Indicate 3 environmental conditions that can beharmful to your health, and provide ways to improve those conditions. 5. Speak out! Indicate health advocacy strategies they have been exposed to through TV, radio, magazines, and newspapers. Indicate which strategies either convinced themor would have convince them to change a behavior, and would work with other teens
Section 3 - Life Skills Project Choices: All those choosing projects must do #3, and one other project. 1 st Option - Create a visual & oral presentation that incorporates the 10 life skills, while focusing on making great decisions, resisting pressure from others, and goal setting. Specific suggestions from all areas must be incorporated into the project. The same rubric will apply as the oral presentation done for Chapter 1. 2 nd Option - Develop a comprehensive fitness plan based on your Polar assessment results. The plan must touch on all aspects of the 10 life skills that you will receive in your notes. Further research and community resources should be included. The Rubric for Writing Assignments will appy 3 rd Option: Using community resources: Research the activities conducted by local and state health departments, and services that each provides to your community. Create a chart that compiles the information you collected. Use the chart to correlate the activities and services provided in their community with the development of a particular life skill. For example, community support groups help develop “coping” life skill. 4 th Option – Take Exam … closed notes!
