Social Studies At William Penn High School

Three years of Social Studies courses are required for graduation. They include Civics, the World and U.S., Economics , World Geography , and U.S. History . Eleventh grade students are tested in the spring on State Social Studies standards. These courses are based upon and planned to provide a thorough understanding of the Delaware standards for all students.

The skills and knowledge that our students gather over their three years in social studies include analyzing different graphics, such as maps, political cartoons, and propaganda posters; analyzing and interpreting different points of views; participating in the political process as citizens; determining cause and effect in many different disciplines, including economics, history, geography, civics, criminal justice, and sociology.
