Classroom Guidance

Guidance Lessons are done with each homeroom class once a month. Kindegarten lessons explore feelings with Felicia the Feelings Flower. Children learn how feelings look on your face, how feelings look on your body, how feelings feel inside and how they sound. Each month a different feeling is explored. These feelings include happy, sad, angry, scared or worried, and embarrassed.

First grade lessons focus on Wonderful Me. Children learn, with the help of I Care Cat, how to take care of that very important person, Themselves! They learn to take care of themselves physically, mentally and emotionally. They are "I Care Kids" and they use "I Care Language"

Second grade lessons use Positive Pup to help the children learn about making choices. Positive choices make life easier, negative choice make life more difficult.

Third, fourth and fifth grade classes reinforce the lessons learned in k-2 while learning time management, goal setting, test-taking skills and career path options.

All grades learn skills and strategies for getting along with others and celebrating the diversity of our world.
